Following on from the last post, TurkbyTone Rekkids is proud to present their first annual televised Christmas message here.
Well, it was only televised on Turakina TV, so you may not have seen it. That's why it has now been posted on YouTube so that people from other nations may share in the joy.

Christmas cheer
Don't have any Christmas cheer going on in your house yet? I've just posted a lovely little singalong version of "Christmas tree" at www.myspace.com/turkby that's bound to get you in the festive spirit. It's from the 2000 release "Have you seen me vanquishing people lately?" Enjoy!

Recording and stuff
Thanks to the professional and well-groomed team at Hot Box Studios, the recording is going very well.
On Monday night I redid the parts where I got the chords all wrong and then broke a string. Wasn't my best take... But now it's all fixed up. MacDeth laid down his intricate yet rocking bass frequencies using the bestest bass in the whole world, the old Maeari P-bass copy from the vaults of TurkbyTone Rekkids. Slapskins McBOOOOM reckons he's going to make some real mechanical-sounding beats for a song or two. We've made a start on vocals for one of the songs, so we just need to finish that off, add bv's and then ice the cake with Tyrone's saxomaphone!
To keep you going until we have stuff ready, I have some free download codes for my earlier solo version of Kublai Khan on Bandcamp. Let me know if you want one and I'll send it to you. Soon I'll put up some demo versions of stuff so you can compare with the end product when we're all done.
Jim K says hi to everybody.

Creativity is exciting
You're darn tooting it is! At the moment, the Bing Turkby Ensemble is working on recording stuff for the next album. Pretty soon I'm gonna leak some tracks and then pretend to be real mad and try to sue someone. Yeah, it's that exciting. Slapskins McBOOOOM laid down some rather rock-tastic drumbeats and now we're in the process of laughing at me while I do take after take of trying to play all the way through songs that I wrote myself. The rest of the band remembers this stuff better than I do - once a song is written I move my focus to things like "which part of the song should I jump around to?", "can I extend this solo to a 30-minute spot without the other guys walking offstage?" etc. But I promise to try harder so that you lovely people get a real treat when you hear it. Potential album titles are welcome. I've been through these 2 so far: Guppy in a puddle (pertaining to my status in Palmy - I'm not a big fish in a small pond) ; Please hold on to the steel rail (Syd Barrett tribute).
Oh yeah, I've sent off my patent application for my secret new invention - the one I've talked to everybody in town about. Hot damn it's gonna be huge! Don't tell Jim K - I'm not giving him a cut on this one cos it's all my own work. Uh-oh, MOS! (manager over shoulder) - see ya.
